BACKGROUND
Spherea was contacted to redesign and improve a home made R&D test bed for new generation of 48v electronic superchargers following a major H&S incident. The purpose was to redevelop a safer and more adaptable system for future eSC products whilst reusing past investments in control & test software.
ACTIVITIES
- Capture requirement including technical, performance, safety, ergonomic, risks, certifications including more automation, interlocks 6 units tested simultaneously switchable 12v/48v
- Remote control system for additional safety
- Interface to existing coolant rig
- Instrumentation (>150 sensors: T°, Hz, dB, m3/h, %, V, A, kPA, kg/hr)
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Fully certified and safe to use test rig (up to 300A, 28,000rpm eSC)
- Reuse and optimisation of past investments
- Improved data analytics for faster qualification enabling the customer to meet their program constraints
